“Kids for Success” Program
Garza Public School in Nosara, Costa Rica
Mission
The purpose of our “Kids for Success” program is to enrich, educate, and
empower the children in the rural area of Nosara, Cosa Rica and the surrounding
community.
Vision
Our vision is to support Garza Elementary School that has 75 children (pre-school to 6th grade) and two teachers through a variety of programs. Our goal is to establish a library of Spanish and English books as well as provide needed school supplies, books, technology needs, and other identified items.
Peace through Yoga Foundation’s travelers will implement educational activities (reading, math, health, English, music, environmental awareness, etc.), career workshops, field trips, movement activities, and more. Future needs will always be under evaluation such as a Girls for Success program, an English program, after-school sewing classes, gardening, volunteer program with parents, etc.

Note:
With only two teachers (one also acting as the school principal) for 75 students, the teacher-to-student ratio can make it difficult to provide individualized attention and support. They also lack proper classrooms, library, and recreational space. Children could be missing out on activities that support their overall development. By focusing on the areas and support listed above, we can significantly improve the educational experience for children in the Garza Public School.
